Grand Prize Announced for
Central Coast Book & Author Festival Writing Challenge
San Luis Obispo, CA - The 7th Annual Central
Coast Book & Author Festival steering committee recently announced the Grand Prize for their annual writing challenge: a $250 gift certificate good at any San Luis Obispo County Albertsons store.
The non-competitive writing challenge is open to participants of all ages. This year’s topic: “More than books… It’s our future.” Participants are asked to consider how libraries contribute to a brighter future for everyone.
Submissions can be anywhere from three sentences to three hundred words in length and may be submitted now through 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006.
Entries must include the author’s name, address, phone number, email address (if any) and age. As a select number of essays may be published, entries must also include a brief statement stating, "Permission is granted for any publication."
Submissions can be dropped off at any branch of the San Luis Obispo City-County Library. For participating branch locations see www.slolibrary.org. You may also mail submissions to P.O. Box 12942, San Luis Obispo, CA 93406-2942 or email them to library@ccbookfestival.org.
Although the writing challenge is not a contest, all submissions will be eligible for a random drawing for gift certificates, including gift certificates from Whiz Kids and Home Depot, and the Grand Prize of a $250 gift certificate good at any SLO County Albertsons. The drawing will be held at the 7th Annual Central Coast Book & Author Festival on September 9, 2006 in Mission Plaza at a time to be announced.

San Luis Obispo, CA - The 7th Annual Central
Coast Book & Author Festival has extended the deadline
to enter its annual non-competitive writing challenge, which is
open to participants of all ages. This year’s topic: “More
than books… it’s our future.” Participants are
asked to consider how libraries contribute to a brighter future
for everyone.
“We have received some outstanding entries
and hope this extended deadline will encourage more individuals
to participate,” explained Festival Chairperson and Library
Foundation President, Rick London.
